Postponed Bell Tower Festival now cancelled

The Bell Tower Festival steering committee announced earlier this week via social media that the Bell Tower Block Party, slated for Aug. 29 as a postponement of the original Bell Tower Festival, has been cancelled.

“Our mission and cause has always been to showcase the city and quality of living here in Jefferson and Greene County, and celebrate life together with a weekend of fun and entertainment,” the post stated.

“There has been enough concern about the contagiousness of the (corona)virus that we don’t want to be the cause of any breakout because of the nature of the event we have been planning. Concerts, games, and close quarters for gathering downtown don’t allow for typical safety recommendations. Because of this concern, we don’t want to put out a subpar event!

“We’ve had many new ideas put out by a very energetic group of volunteers, and we’d rather put it all together for the best possible event in a year to come.

“So, next June, 2021, expect on of the best Bell Tower Festival experiences ever! Until then, stay safe, stay well, and keep on having fun despite the circumstances!”
